Ichthys Sterling Silver Necklace

T. S. Brown Jewelry

This design of intersecting curves was perhaps the earliest symbol of Christianity. It was a time when the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire was at its height, and secrecy among followers was paramount. A fish would be an obvious choice of symbol for Christians when referred to so frequently in the Gospels. Being made of two simply drawn arcs, it may have been a method for two Christians to secretly identify each other, one drawing a curve in the sand, the other completing the symbol.

Pendant is 1 1/4" wide.  An 18" sterling silver chain is included along with a gift box and description card.
