I Open Every Door Sterling Silver Necklace

T. S. Brown Jewelry

Sterling silver open door necklace engraved "Not knowing when the dawn will come I open every door" with Emily Dickinson's signature on the back.
From the poem Dawn. The complete poem is: "Not knowing when the dawn will come I open every door; Or has it feathers like a bird, Or billows like a shore?" Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was an American poet of the 19th Century. She was an extremely private person and few of her 1800 poems were published during her lifetime. After her death, her sister Lavinia became obsessed with getting Emily's work published. She was finally recognized as a major poet for her "rare individuality and originality". She did not adhere to the 19th Century poetic form but is truly the first modern poet.
