A sterling silver heart necklace inscribed with a quote from John James Audubon in a letter to his wife when they were separated by continents: "I have wished for thee, every day, every moment."
John James Audubon [1785-1851] had a talent for drawing and an interest in birds. He traveled to the remotest regions of the United States to produce his landmark watercolors and was often separated from his beloved wife, Lucy Bakewell Audubon. This romantic inscription is from a December 5, 1827 letter to her now in the collection of the New York Historical Society. The caption is wrapped around a soft organic heart shape; beautiful words of love for a modern day Valentine.
The heart pendant is 7/8" wide and the included sterling silver chain is 18" long.
