In the 16th and
17th centuries in England, France and throughout Europe, a wedding band would
invariably be inscribed with a sentiment of love, faith and hope. A "posie"
is a short poem or inscription. The popularity
of these "poesy rings" is attested to by their frequent mention in
Shakespeare's plays. The tradition is much older than Shakespeare's time, but it
was during the Renaissance that the custom reached the height of its popularity.
It was common to give a sterling silver ring as a betrothal gift or engagement
ring as we call them now, the wedding ring would bear the same sentiment in
gold. Many are faithful copies of museum originals, some modern recreations of
recorded rings which are now lost, others are contemporary creations.
Some finger sizes on hand, others made just for you taking up to 4 weeks to ship.

All bands, with the exception of platinum, have their designs and
inscriptions dark oxidized to bring out the detail. Gold bands can be made
without the oxidation if you prefer.
Platinum cannot be oxidized.
